Dr Uroš Merc holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specialising in solid-state physics and quantum mechanics. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, and spent much of his doctoral studies as a visiting researcher at the Institute of Solid State Physics in Vienna, part of the Faculty of Physics at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien).
Dr Merc is a leading Slovenian entrepreneur in the photovoltaic industry, combining a strong scientific background with extensive business experience. As co-founder, majority owner and President of the Management Board of BISOL Group, a multinational solar energy company with subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Italy, he oversees international operations spanning more than 100 countries.

With more than two decades of market presence, the Group is also a major investor in solar power plants in Slovenia. In 2023, BISOL Group established BISOL Energija, expanding its portfolio and commitment to renewable energy into integrated energy solutions and modern electricity supply services.
