Gregor Makuc

Chief Executive Officer, Lek d.d.

Gregor Makuc graduated in 2001 with a degree in Political Science, specializing in International Relations, from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana.

Between 2000 and 2004, he gained work experience at the Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia and the Prime Minister’s Office. From 2005 to 2011, he served as the Secretary General of the International Forum of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies. From 2007 to 2011, he was a member of the Council of the Public Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, and since 2017, he has been a member of the Assembly of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia.

In 2011, he joined Novartis in Slovenia as the Director of Market Access for Novartis’ innovative medicines. He was responsible for launching innovative medical products and leading public affairs projects in Central and Eastern European countries and the Baltic states. In 2014, he continued his career as a public and governmental affairs expert on various Novartis projects.

In 2017, he was appointed Head of Public Affairs for Novartis in Slovenia. In this role, he supported Novartis’ Innovative Medicines, Lek d.d., and Sandoz d.d. on all matters related to public stakeholders.

On February 1, 2020, he took on the role of Director of Communications and External Affairs, and in February 2023, he became Director of Corporate Affairs and a member of the Sandoz Slovenia leadership team.

As of July 4, 2023, he was appointed to the Management Board of Lek, where he was responsible for corporate affairs.

On September 3, 2024, Gregor Makuc was appointed Chief Executive Officer on the Board of Directors of Lek d.d.
